Attendance

A student must notify his/her instructor if he/she needs to be absent from class. If more than two (2) classes are missed in a course, a student will not receive credit. Under special circumstances, with the consent of the instructor and the approval of the Director, a student may be given the opportunity to make up the work.

A student who is considering a leave of absence for any reason must speak with the Director.  If a student wishes to proceed with the request for such a leave, he/she must apply formally in writing and request such a leave from the Training Committee.  Should a leave be granted, a $50.00 per semester matriculation fee is due before classes begin, for each semester the student is absent from the program, in order to maintain matriculation status.

Refund of Tuition

A student withdrawing from a course or from training may request a refund of tuition by writing to the Director before classes begin. Seventy-five percent of the tuition will be refunded before or during the first week of classes. Half of the tuition will be refunded during the second week of classes. Twenty-five percent of the tuition will be refunded during the third week of classes. No refunds will be made after the third week.

Transcripts

Transcripts may be obtained by writing to the Registrar and enclosing a $20.00 fee for processing.

Library

A library is maintained at our offices at 160 West 86th Street.
Psychoanalytic books and periodicals are available for student use.

MITPP maintains an extensive electronic psychoanalytic library available
for candidates' use.  A computer with an Internet connection, printer and 
phone line are also available.   Candidates may access psychoanalytic articles
and books on the computer and email material to themselves at their personal
email addresses.   They may also explore and research articles on
psychoanalytic topics via the electronic library's search engine.  The PEP Archive is an
electronic library stack which includes the full text of the eight premier
psychoanalytic journals from 1920 to 2000:

Candidates Organization

The Candidates Organization addresses candidates' concerns and interests,
offers peer support and a collegial forum. All students are eligible to
join. The annual membership fee of $25.00 covers joint membership in the
Candidates Organization and the Metropolitan Society of Psychoanalytic
Psychotherapists (MSPP), the graduate organization of MITPP.
